Class Policies

What do the various skill levels mean?

We tend not to require prerequisites in our classes, but instead expect students to choose classes that are suitable for their particular level of experience. The descriptions below should give you a good idea of how we classify our course offerings. If you ever have a question about if a class is right for you, shoot us an email and ask!

Novice: No particular skills or prior experience needed. Great for students who want to find out if they like something enough to pursue it.

Beginner: Learning the craft, but still working on the basics. Experience isn't necessarily needed, but a student should be interested in expanding their skill level.

Intermediate: Students are comfortable with basic operations and are starting to expand their knowledge into particular focus areas of a craft.

Advanced: Students are comfortable with experimenting on their own in the craft and are looking to develop in-depth skills in particular focus areas.

Are there age limits on enrolling in a class?

Each class will have its own age requirements, so check the individual listing for more information.  For most classes, even if those under 18 are able to enroll, they must attend with a parent or guardian (over 18).  Contact us at education@lansingmakersnetwork.org for more information or to inquire about a specific situation.

What are my transport/parking options?

Lansing Makers Network is located at 2400 W. St Joseph St, Lansing, MI 48917.  Ample parking is available.

Is my registration/ticket transferable to someone else?

Generally we can transfer your registration for a class to someone else, but we're not able to change your registration to a different class or workshop. If you'd like to transfer your ticket to someone else, just contact us and let us know.

What is the refund policy?

As many of our classes fill quickly, we're generally unable to offer refunds unless there is a waiting list for the class and we are able to fill the seat.  You can always transfer your ticket to someone else if you're not able to attend.  We are understanding of unforeseen circumstances and will do our best to work with you, just email us and we'll do our best to help out!

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

I'm a member of Lansing Makers Network, don't I get a discount on registration?

MOST classes offer a discounted rate for members of Lansing Makers Network. Just sign-up for the Members ticket option.
