Whether you're just getting into electronics or a seasoned pro, soldering circuits is a important skill. Learn how to assemble and solder an electronics kits in this fun workshop. We'll supply everything you need to build this month's kit. This class is best for ages 10+ (Participants under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult also enrolled in the class.)

Taste of Jewelry - Forged Copper Cuff

Hand fabricate a copper cuff bracelet from start to finish using copper wire while you learn about:
- how to add texture to metal using various hammers
- how to anneal metal using a jeweler's torch
- metal forging and metal stamping
- forming and work hardening a cuff to keep its shape
- patina and finishing techniques
- different wire gauges and which work well for making cuff bracelets
- how to measure and size a cuff bracelet for a customized fit
- how to properly put on and take off a cuff bracelet
This class is beginner focused and participants are not expected to have prior knowledge of jewelry making. The course is open to participants age 16 and over. (Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is also participating in the class.)

Learn the basics of fine jewelry making while you make a sterling silver textured ring. In this 3 hour class, students will learn to:
- Cut and shape silver into a ring
- Use stamping tools to engrave and texture metal
- Square joints for soldering
- Use a torch to anneal metal
- Solder a silver joint (through observation)
- Polish jewelry
- Apply patina to silver

Taste of Woodworking - Long Grain Cutting Board

Learn the basics of using the woodworking equipment available at Lansing Makers Network and leave with a project everyone will be jealous of! You'll learn how to use the basic tools of the woodshop, as well as you to design and make a beautiful cutting board that will look exceptional in your kitchen.
This class is beginner focused and participants are not expected to have prior knowledge of woodworking. The course is open to participants age 16 and over (participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult also enrolled in the class).
Note: There is a lunch break in the middle of this class while we wait for glue to dry. Participants are welcome to bring a lunch and hang out at the makerspace, or we'll happily suggest our favorite local dining options.
FAQ:
Should I bring anything with me to class? Everything you'll need to complete the projects will be provided including any nessecary safety equipment. If you have safety glasses or hearing protection you prefer to wear, please feel free to bring them along. (Safety glasses must meet ANSI Z87 standards (most do).)
Can I bring my own wood to use? We'll supply all the wood you'll use to complete you cutting board. Trust us, it'll be some really awesome stuff. Save that wood at home for your next project!
What should I wear ? Plan to wear comfortable clothing that you're prepared to get dirty. Avoid loose-fitting clothing and dangling jewelry such as neck chains or bracelets. Shoes should be closed-toed (no sandals or flip-flops).
